PlateSage Privacy Policy

PlateSage is an AI nutrition companion for general wellness awareness. Users can scan meals with the camera, add meals manually, review AI-generated nutrition estimates, save meal history, track daily balance, write reflections, use AI Coach, generate Weekly Reports, and manage privacy controls.

Data used for app functionality

Meal photos or selected images, used to generate meal estimates and insight cards.
Manual meal descriptions, used to create structured meal drafts.
Meal records, including estimated nutrition values and timestamps.
Reflections, mood selections, goals, preferences, and reminder settings, used for personalization and AI Coach context when AI Memory is enabled.
Purchase information, used to unlock PlateSage Plus entitlements.

AI service data processing

PlateSage uses a server-side AI gateway operated by our backend for meal analysis, coaching, reflection follow-up, insights, and weekly report generation. The iOS app sends requests to our configured AI endpoints, including the media upload endpoint and AI JSON/chat gateway. The app does not use an on-device third-party analytics or advertising SDK for AI processing.

Data processed by the AI service

The AI service processes only the data needed for the user-selected feature:

Meal photos uploaded by the user for meal analysis.
Manual meal descriptions entered by the user.
AI Coach messages entered by the user.
Reflection text, mood selection, and tomorrow plan when the user submits a reflection.
Meal history summaries for insights and weekly reports, including meal name/type, estimated calories, protein, carbs, fat, fiber, mood, confidence, and timestamp.
Locale/language information so the response can match the user's language.

Personal data processed by the AI service

The AI service may process user-provided wellness content, including:

Meal photos, which may incidentally contain personal surroundings if the user includes them in the photo.
User-entered meal descriptions.
User-entered coach questions or wellness reflections.
Meal nutrition estimates and meal history context.
Reflection mood, food thoughts, and tomorrow plan.

Tracking

No tracking should be declared unless cross-app advertising, third-party ad tracking, or data broker sharing is added.

Linked to user

If account sync or server-side profiles are enabled, meal content, reflections, profile data, identifiers, purchases, and support contact information may be linked to the user. If the released build is local-only for a data type, answer according to the actual production implementation.

User controls

AI Memory can be turned on or off.
Users can export local app data.
Users can delete local meal history.
Users can skip optional notifications and photo-library permissions.
Camera permission is used for meal scanning, and manual meal entry remains available when a photo is not convenient.

Subscriptions

PlateSage Plus is implemented through StoreKit auto-renewable subscriptions. It unlocks unlimited meal photo logs, deeper AI Coach follow-ups, Weekly Reports, and premium insight exports. Restore purchase support is available in the app.
